In Ban Nammia, while cycling on the perfectly new road there was sudden crack heard in Michel’s backwheel. Since Sydney Michel had been anxious about the freewheel. Now it was blocked and he had to pedal continuously up or down over the 150km to Luang Prabang. To constantly pedal is very strenuous. We therefore decided to take a break in Luang Prabang’s old town. This UNESCO cultural heritage is a peacful but touristy place.
After removal of the cassette, we realy found the freewheel broken. The little play of the cassette, that Michel had noticed already in Sydney must have been the beginning of this damage. The bike mechanik he had shown it to had appeased us then. Luckily we could inform «our serviceteam» from Exodus Chur and they have reacted at once and will send us the needed part to Laos.
Well, there we are left to relaxe, look at the culturally unique buddistic buildings, do yoga in the morning, drink a fruit juice or beer on a terrasse overlooking the mighty Mekong river or enjoy the «land of plenty». With many influences in the past and now asian and western visitors there is a wide variety of food available here and we can choose out of many more different dishes than for a long time. In Luang Prabang we had also met the polish couple again and have spent an enjoyable interessting evening with together.
