With all our gear, carefully put together we finally could sit on our bikes an start our ride. We had been waiting a long time for this moment – it feels great. Just go and feel the world. Every tree, every corner, every change of light makes me curious. If ever we do not see the beauty or we do not feel curious anymore we will have to stopp.
Direction northwest out of Auckland we first came across some huge road works. Due to the fast expanding population Auckland seems to explode. And as the traffic is growing rapidly wohle new Motorways and bridge-systems are being built. Soon though we faced hill number one and thene we went up and down through forests with the tipical shades of green and the forms of the native plants. We passed green pasturs with scheep others with cows. It isn´t though as green as it can be, as the rain is not falling in it´s usual amount. At the sea at Muriwai beach, where the Gannets are nesting on a few cliffs, where the sound of the ocean is forming the days, we put up our home.
