Pascale & Michel's Cycling Tour

4800km north of Southpole

969b Bluff

30km south of Invercargill we found the end of State Highway 1. The road finishes and there is only view onto the ocean. However the South Pole is still 4800mk away! Here is the end of our ride direction south, our direction since leaving the lighthouse at Cape Reigna in teh north of North Island. Time to count a bit: we have covered so far about 4100km with 46´280 meters altitude.

It was a great feeling to arrive at Bluff and especially nice to do so together with Fredericke and Dirk, who have become friends by now.
After a typical lunch with « avocado sandwiches » we could do nothing else than turning our bikes around and cycle north. That is the start of our way home, I suddenly thought! But luckily this ist still quite a distance. Unfortunatly for Fredericke and Dirk the cycling is really coming to an end here. We will have another dinner to enjoy together, before we will part and the two of us will cycle on direction Catlins.
