The monsoon brings daily rain now. However Hughie, the weather god, has been kind on us. When ever the downpour was heavy we had either just arrived at a hotel, not yet left or we were just sitting down to have a bite of something. Between the showers, that can start any time of the day, it is dry and often sunny.
In Lancang woke up to the sound of rain and it was wet and grey. We were still tired from the two noisy nights before and decided to stay another night in this quiet room. It ended up being the day when it only rained once. We strolled over the big market at lunch time and enjoyed observing the activities and watch and we tried some delicious pieces from the market bakery. In one of the many stalls covered with beautiful spices we finally found cinnamon bark after a lot of discussing with words, phone and hands the lady that owned the stall started the little mill and very sceptically ground few pieces. She was relived when she saw it was exactly what we were looking for.
In a little shop we asked for oats, which they didn’t have. It was soon clear that we couldn’t follow the directions to a supermarket they were trying to give us. Therefore a young lady was sent to show us the way. The rain has just become stronger again as she precautiously walked over the steps and pathways in her new shiny salmon-coloured highheels. It went straight a head, to the right… It poured heavily again, when the young lady grabed two umbrellas in a little shop and payed. One she handed us the other she opened over her own head before we crossed the road and walked up a street. To the right there was a big supermarket. Our guide directly went to the service desk, instructed a lady to come with us into the shop to make sure we get what we wanted, pointed to her smartphone as telling «they communicat with this tool» and off she went with a smile.
«Xiexie» – thank you!
