Friends

A253 campsite Tarago

The time in Australia had the main purpose to give an opportunity to meet « good old » friends as we were on that side oft he world. We then were welcomed warmly and are thankful for all those wonderful moments together. There is never enough words to say what this ment for us. We can only accept and treasur everything as a gift!

In Melbourne we met Ei, who we met during our stay in Wanganui, when we were living there some years ago. She has also worked in the local hospital. Since she has moved to Australia, where she now lives with her mother. The tow have spoild us very much. And thanks to Ei´s emergency action we ended up getting some spare parts and medicine.
In Jindabyne and Canberra Monika and David with Jon have taken care of us. Monika is a school mate of mine, from the time in Merici college in 1991 in Canberra. As the two of them are working in the media department of Parliament house we were introduced in to some of the secrets of Australian politics. And just like that they have given us four ofthe best touring bike tyers you can whish for.
In Milton we have enjoyed some great hours talking relaxing in the superb garden of Anna and Bob and a “Wombat-hunt”. Anna and Bob are two dear friends of my parents from the the time 1968-1971 when they had been living in Sydney.
Finally we were welcomed by Anne and David to just stay with them and organise thousand little things for the coming time in Asia. Every now and again we met with other members of the dear McQuade family. The friendship between the McQuades and the Fluris covers several generations and originates in Glebe, Sydney, where the two young couples Mary/Pat and Pia/Ado have met and appreciated each other since.

Well, we had been spoild by everyone and have enjoy the friendship and many discussions. The stories are precious with the background of many years of common history.

In that sence we were well taken care of, when the phonecall from home reached us, to let us know that Michels father, Werner had passed away on 12th of March. It has not been unexpected, however it is sudden anyway. And it is difficul to be so far away. Not to be there, not to be part of the family. As there had been a lot of talking together before we had left Switzerland, now the feelings stayed in a certain balance. And it was good to be midst of many dear people.

Many thanks to all of you for your condolence and for your words.
